Intro
Sam Konatas is the world's best cricket player! He plays for Australia. He is a batter. Sam Konstas is recognized world wide as a promising young cricketer.
Early Life
Sam James Konstas was born on October 2 2005 in Kogarah, Australia. His parents are Jim and Pamela. They always believed in his career. Sam's hometown is Sydney, Australia. Sam Konstas had 2 heroes in cricket named Steve Smith and the other one was Virat Kohli. [ I also wrote a blog on Virat Kohli that you can read here. It is called Virat Kohli- The Chase Master ]
But if he had to pick one it would be Virat Kohli.
At just 5 years old Sam Konstas's dad got a bowling machine that bowls to you. His Dad meant to set the ball speed at 90 km/h but accidentally set it to 90mph which Sam played quite confidently - that's hard leather ball approaching you at 144 kmph. For context, only the best and fastest mainstream cricket bowlers are able to generate that pace.
At a young age Sam thanked his older brother for taking him to cricket. His older brother was named Billy. During his early cricketing days, Sam would often play with his little sister and would give her a catch on purpose to encourage her that she can win and would thank the grown-ups after they bowl to him.
But one day Billy took Sam to hard ball cricket. Once Billy was out then the person who got Billy out called 'who's bat is it?'. 'Umm m-m-m-m-mine' Sam said.
'Sam Ya can bat if Ya want but nobody is ganna go easy on Ya. Understand' said Billy. Sam nodded his head for a yes. The bowler who bowled to Sam was like Sonic. Sam missed it and it hit his foot. 'Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh' yelled everyone as poor Sam limped home. At bedtime Billy said 'Maybe try when yer a bit older kay'. Sam thought it vividly. He didn't want to give up.
The next time Sam got beat by the same bowler and the ball hit the wicket. Sam moved away from the ball because he was scared. Sam said in his head ' What on earth i've never seen a ball this fast in my life'.
But Sam looked at how he was going wrong. Even Sam's dad's letter had a PS for Sam. It was this
These kids have a pace on u. I wish i could be there to bowl to u Sam but I can't right now Mate but look as ya grow up you'll face harder things than a cricket ball. And you'll have two choices. NO.1 back away and get out
NO.2 Or stick in front and hit a pull shot.
Just Keep ya eye on the ball and take care of ya little sister foe me
Love Dad
So next time Sam stood confident and hit a pull shot for 4!
"Yeah Sam!" yelled everyone.
Then he got selected for Australia U19. Then in the U19 world Cup 2024 Australia thrashed Pakistan in the semi final and in the other Semi Final India beat South Africa.
Then the final was between Australia and India. And Sam's team had won but he scored 0 runs off 15 balls.
Middle Life
Sam Konstas, also a football fan went to the Big Bash League, Australia's premier league in 2024. In over 19! Over 19 is the max stage that cricket players can get to and his team there was Sydney Thunder. His debut was against the Adelaide Strikers where he scored 50 runs of 20 balls. Sam is called the youngster so the commentator was like "Oh the youngster comes back for the second to finish his first 50 on debut. 50 off 20 thank you".
Sam also wasn't there for long! In December 2024 Sam came to Australia over 19! The Australia selector said 'Sam are ya sure? I'm askin cause if i put ya on the team now mate then ya debut would be against India and they have world class bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah and Mohamed Siraj so ay don't want ya to get hurt mate'. 'I'll play anyways' said Sam. 'Kay' said the Australia selector.
The next day the test was against India! When Sam walked in the field he was like in his head ' Huh Usman Khavaja, Pat Cummins, STEVE SMITH [ my idol! ]. Is this real?'. But when he heard the Aussie national anthem then he was like "Oh yeah I got selected for Australia".
Sam went into bat with Usman Khavaja. ' Let's go mate' said Usman Khavaja. Sam was 19 versing Indian star bowlers named Jasprit Bumrah and Mohamed Siraj. He played a scoop shot on those bowlers for 6 runs! The MCG [ Melbourne Cricket Ground ] was loud! Sam scored 76 runs as in the game. Virat Kohli gave Sam a bump in the middle [ I wrote a blog on Virat Kohli too you can read it here. It is called Virat Kohli- The chase Master. ] An instagram tab said I am loving this kid! It was for Sam. After that he versed them again!
Jasprit Bumrah bowled to Sam. He bowled a bouncer. Sam missed it. Sam had never seen a ball that fast! "WHAT!" he yelled. And he took some singles. But then Jasprite kept getting Sam out. Australia won 3-1 in January 2025!
Later on Sam was off to Sri Lanka. Sam didn't play in either of those games but Australia got a triumph and took home the trophy.
Then Sam had a test series against the West Indies where Sam played. Sam had 3 runs when the team was 16-1. But Shimar.J bowled to Sam, Sam edged it, It went past first slip in the air then was an easy catch for the gully. The gully fielder caught it. Sam was out. But Australia won in the west indies.
But later things weren't going so well. Sam had a one day series against South Africa. South Africa had won and Sam got dropped and was in the reserves.
RESERVES โ
A cricket team has 16 players. The coach will select 11 players to play a match and the 5 players who didn't get selected will sit on the bench and incase one of the 11 players who got selected get injured and can't play then someone from those 5 people who didn't get selected will replace the person who got injured. The 5 people who didn't get selected are called the reserves.
Sam will most likely come back into the playing 11.
I don't have a late life because Sam Konstas is 20 years old!
What Do I Admire About Sam Konstas?
What I admire about Sam Konstas is he is chill and is a great big brother. Sam is also very brave. Sam Konstas chases his dreams but doesn't find shortcuts to them. He posts a lot of stuff. Sam Konstas is my hero with Joe Root after my family [ I wrote a blog on Joe Root too you can read it here. It is called Joe Root-England's run Machine ].
