Intro
Kobe Bryant was a star basketball player from the American basketball team. He was a shooting guard. Kobe Bryant played club basketball for the Los Angeles Lakers.
Early Life
Kobe Bean Bryant was born on August 23, 1978 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States of America. His parents are Joe and Pam. Pam was the sister of basketball player Chubby Cox and Joe was an NBA player. Kobe's hometown is Philadelphia. Kobe's siblings are Sharia and Shaya. Bryant started playing basketball at only 3 years old!
He didn't play professional basketball he just played for fun with his dad. His dad let him win crazy like 1,000-0. His dad would count every shot as a full court.
A full court is that you shoot from the other side of the net and you get it in. A full court is 10 points for your team.
So when Kobe was a little older than 3 the Los Angeles Lakers were his favorite team in club basketball. When Kobe was 6 his dad retired from NBA and the Bryants moved to Rieti in Italy. Then after 2 years they kept moving. Also Kobe started playing basketball seriously around those ages. At school other kids might spend their free time on a few mins of basketball or soccer then go on to play video games for hours or take long trips and hang out at the mall for a long time. Kobe would stick to basketball, always focusing on how he can improve his game. Kobe would even take lessons on basketball and learn. He just wanted to learn. This willingness to learn was the key reason that Kobe became a legend who played in United States of America with loads of other legends like LeBron James, Shaquille O' Neal and Michael Jordan and his learning ability also became a super power.
But Kobe also had bad days like he shot only air balls, 0 points and his team lost so bad 122-55. Kobe didn't come home on his bed or couch crying and saying 'I shouldn't play basketball anymore in my entire life'. He went to the basketball courts and tried to fix what happened. His coach gave him feedback that he would listen to carefully. Kobe didn't just focus on basketball he focused on studies too. But other than studies his main focus was basketball. So that means less playing on PS5 4 3 2 or 1 and more basketball. Kobe loved practicing half time shooting. Kobe does not copy anyone. He knows those who practice a lot will perform in the future. Kobe chases his dreams but does not take any shortcuts. He also liked soccer and his favorite team was A.C. Milan.
Later in high school Kobe played on the school team as a freshman. He had a lot of scrimmages there.
Middle Life
On November 3, 1996 the big moment came! Kobe Bryant went to the Los Angeles Lakers. In the Lakers his teammates were legends like Shaquille O' Neal and LeBron James.
Bryant debuted in Summer Pro League in Long Beach, California. There he scored 25 points in front of a standing-room-only crowd. A lot of defenders struggled to tackle him or dunk with his shot.
But Kobe had bad days there too like he scored 0 points and shot 4 airballs. Kobe didn't let that stop him.
In the final of the 1996-97 season Kobe scored 36 points and 24.5 average and 5.3 rebounds where he was mostly off the bench. Kobe won the 1997 Slam Dunk Contest.
The Lakers came second place in NBA 1997. In Kobe's second NBA he showed a lot of abilities as a guard. His averages doubled in the season too. In the 2000-01 NBA the team responded by going 15-1 in the playoffs. He played 80 games for the first time in his career.
Later in the 2008 Summer Olympics Kobe's real dream came true! He went to the United States of America national team where Michael Jordan, Shaquille O' Neal and LeBron James. He was a true hero there.
In one of Kobe's speeches he said a lot of important words and sentences like i'm in a cage don't touch me don't come close to me don't make noises.
LEAVE ME ALONE!
That means his full focus is on putting that ball in the basket.
Now Kobe has traveled to countries like New Zealand, Australia, Canada. That means he got jet lacked too. But Kobe still let his skills come out in any country.
